Atletico Madrid players gather on the sidelines after Angel Correa’s stoppage-time winner in 90+4 minutes as they beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone hailed Angel Correa’s stoppage-time 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain as a “major victory” after a poor run of form.
AtIetico Madrid began their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 win over RB Leipzig, but the Rojiblancos have lost back-to-back games to Benfica (0-4) and Lille (1-3), but the Argentine’s side will make amends when they beat PSG in Paris on their latest outing.
‘I told the boys after the bad game against Betis (lost 0-1) that we had important things to talk about and from there, the intention to play against the Big (Copa del Rey), even with the first goal in the 80th minute (won 2-0), is the intention of the team that wants to compete.’
‘The game against Las Palmas is about a team that wants to compete and today was the same. The opponent was better, but there is something behind it and we have worked for 12 years to create these situations. This is the way,’ Simeone said.
Atletico Madrid are now back on track, winning their last three games in all competitions, but Simeone is not quick to conclude that the Rojiblancos are good enough.
‘It was an important win, Promotion ufabet but there is still a long way to go. It’s not that everything was bad after Betis and it’s not that everything is great now,’ the Argentine coach said.
